The reports are the hardest part of the year. We made them a by-product.

Every preschool loses a week to report cards. Teachers sit with a register, try to remember what a child did in September, and write the same three sentences twenty times.

In Starkid, the report is already written by the time the term ends — because it comes from what the teacher recorded as she went.

Assessment & reporting

How reporting works

Five developmental domains

Physical, Socio-Emotional & Ethical, Cognitive, Language & Literacy, and Aesthetic & Cultural Development. The five the national framework uses, not five we invented. These are what a child is assessed against — distinct from the five learning areas the curriculum is organised into.

Four levels per domain

Emerging, Developing, Confident, Excelling. Plain words a parent understands without a legend.

Rate the class, not the register

Once a fortnight the teacher rates her class across a domain and marks who stood out either way. Each child's level is derived from that. Under thirty seconds a child, on her phone, in the classroom.

Age-banded language

What “Developing” means for a Playgroup child is not what it means for UKG. The report says the right thing for the right age, automatically.

Draft, review, publish

Nothing reaches a parent until the school approves it. Review the whole class in one screen, edit anything, then publish.

The term report writes itself

Generated from what was recorded across the term. No report-writing week. No blank templates in October.

Coverage as evidence, not memory

“You completed 14 literacy activities with this class this month.” The teacher rates from what actually happened.

Weekly report to parents

What was covered, what's coming, and the home activity for the week.

NCF compliance report

“July 2026: 5 of 5 developmental domains assessed for 8 of 8 children.” One screen. Show it to a parent who asks. Show it to an inspector who asks. It's generated from real classroom records, not from a claim.

Progress booklet, printed

The same data, printed and bound, handed to parents at the end of the term. Included in the programme.
