StarBuilder Curriculum
A preschool curriculum for a thoughtful beginning to learning. Four connected stages, from Playgroup to UKG, built around play, real experiences and growing independence.
The learning journey
Each class builds on the last, with new ways to take part, express ideas and use what children learn. Play and exploration continue throughout, with room for every child to grow at their own pace.
2–3 years
Playgroup
Early Learners Series
Children explore through their senses, movement, conversation and play. Large visuals and hands-on participation support learning, with minimal pencil work.

Little Explorers Series
Children discover connections by matching, sorting, sequencing and counting. Drawing and guided activities help them represent what they notice.

Children develop their ideas through classification, comparison, sequencing and explanation. Early literacy, numeracy and fine-motor experiences help them represent their thinking with greater control.

Stories and Rhymes support learning across the Development Areas. Nursery introduces mark-making and drawing through English and Create & Do; Write & Draw begins in LKG.
The classroom experience
A conversation. A shared story. A new way to sort, build or move. Everyday experiences give children something meaningful to think about.

A connected curriculum
Twelve familiar themes and seventy-two subthemes connect learning to children’s lives, from home and friendships to nature and the wider world.
These are Starkid’s connected aspects of learning. One experience can support several areas together; they are distinct from official NCF categories and school subjects.
StarBuilder learning outcomes connect to NCF reference points, with wording developed for this curriculum. Playgroup’s experiences are developmentally adapted for ages 2–3.

Seeing each child’s progress
Teachers build a picture of progress through observation, conversation, child work and practical tasks. A completed book page is only one part of that picture.
